Who influenced you to develop the drift style you have and when did you first get truly excited about drifting?
I started off canyon running in various Hondas for a few years. Then, In 2004 I took the plunge and purchased a stock S13 with a plan to build it for canyon running. I beat the crap out of the car for a couple years before the KA finally let go. I went with a trusty SR, it was my first motor swap and custom wiring job. The extra power was really fun in the canyon, but that's when I started to dabble in drifting. I went to my first drift event in 2006 and had a blast.
That first SR lasted 4 years of constant track abuse. Then followed by a string of years with nothing but a series of unfortunate events with multiple blown motors and transmissions, it was extremely frustrating. All I wanted to do was drive, but I couldn't get more than a few laps without some type of mechanical problem.
With some light persuasion I took the plunge and purchased a 2JZGTE. The swap was completed in 2015 and the car has been rock solid ever since. I have been able to bash on the car non-stop for the past 4 years without issue.
When did you first get truly excited about drifting?
I was truly obsessed with touge in the early 2000's. I watched any Option video I could get my hands on at the time. Watching all the drifting in those old videos made me want to give it a try.
What cars influenced your car’s style?
This exact article is what spurred my interest in drifting style and culture. I remember stealing this issue of Super Street from a grocery store because I didn't want to spare the $6 for it. http://www.superstreetonline.com/event-coverage/motorsports/130-0206-osaka-style-drifting/
What drivers influenced your driving style?
I didn't have a specific driver that I looked up to. I didn't know what the hell I was doing> I just took pointers and listened to anyone that would lend some knowledge.
Why did you choose to take the path through drifting that you did?
Drifting has always been immensely fun with friends. I saw a lot of people that went the serious ProAm route, but that was never appealing. All I ever want to do is screw around in cars with friends.
