Name: Joshua Maghirang

Who influenced you to develop the drift style you have?

Other than my favorite drivers in Japan I have always been influenced by hip hop culture. The music, dancing and art work is where my passion for attention to detail comes from. Car aesthetics, sound and performance have a rhythm and all aspects of that shit must flow together.

When did you first get truly excited about drifting?

I had been collecting Japanese car tuning books, magazines and videos since the 90's. I already had a strong interest in drifting but in 2003 I went to California for D1 Grand Prix Exhibition, I remember standing in line for my ticket and hearing Nomukens Silver Blitz ER34 drifting around the Irwindale bank.............it was that very moment when i lost my fucken mind. Later that night i saw my favorite driver win, Katsuhiro Ueo. 

What drivers influenced your driving style?

• Katsuhiro Ueo: for his intensity

• Yasuyuki Kazama: for his technical shifting and foot work

• Yoshinori Koguchi: for literally expressing himself through his car

• Sexy Knights: for being a team before anything else

• No Name Heroes: because the street will always be the ultimate expression of Drift

Why did you choose to take the path through drifting that you did?

I consider myself very lucky to discover drifting in its early years. There was no other path since i followed it in real time. The early years remain dearest to me and i'd like to think my cars express that generation of Drift. Japanese car tune and Japanese drift style has been on my mind since the mid 90's. It is constant. It is everything.
